Alumni Meet 2022

As we walk forward through the roads of life, we happen to gain a lot of experiences and create umpteen memories. College life brings a very different phase in each one’s life and we learn and grow up from cocooned caterpillars to vibrant butterflies and one fine day fly off to face the world and add value to this society.

After many years, here at School of Management, NIT Warangal, we organized a grand alumni meet where our alumni from different parts of this nation visited the campus and participated in various events that were specifically designed for them. The events were conducted for two days; 26th and 27th of November, 2022. Alumni, right from the 2000 to 2002 batch to the 2020 to 2022 batch, were present to commemorate the event. They interacted in a very cordial way with all the existing batch students and contributed to our overall learning by sharing their valuable experiences. Each one of them were associated with various government and multinational organizations in different positions of prestige and honor.

One of our most revered alumni Mr. Gowri Shankar who currently is working with G&G group Singapore as a senior Director was chosen the president of the Alumni Association of School of Management, NIT Warangal. His contributions to SOM are significant and praiseworthy. The decision was taken through a formal general body meeting with a consensus. All the alumni present participated in the election process. There were various strategies and planning documented for fostering the department’s growth and enhancement.

Overall, the event was a grand success and all the alumni who participated in the meet were overly delighted by the planning and execution of the entire event, the hospitality and overall programmes that were carried out over the two days. The efforts of the existing batch students were highly appreciated. The alumni team members also planned and successfully executed the program to felicitate every respected faculty member right from the ones who had retired many years ago to the existing ones. Acknowledge!!

/əkˈnɒlɪdʒ/

The word acknowledge holds various meanings situationally, but the essence remains the same. A few of the meanings it has are as below:

  1. An act of admitting the truth.
  2. An act of praise or thanks for some achievement or deed.
  3. A usual written or oral statement that says a message was received.

It is the most missing trait in individuals of today’s era. There are many associated factors, like trust, interest in connecting with a person, losing opportunities in hand, etc., with the lack of a simple acknowledgment. The elaboration goes this way, meaning-wise.

An act of admitting the truth

Our generation has the quality of being stubborn. We generally deny admission and correct any action that goes wrong or is falsified. Rather, we go way beyond to cover up the situation by giving out silly reasons. It may settle for the moment, but it has its own repercussions to face further.

An act of praise or thanks for some achievement or deed

When someone helps you, be grateful and thank them for their deeds towards you. And, at the time of your opponents’ winning the game, be kind enough to appreciate their achievement. You too will have your turn to receive the accolades, which may be bigger than the achievement you missed earlier. Being positive!

A statement that says a message was received

In today’s fast-paced world of work, acknowledging a message communicated is definitely missing. It’s fine to ignore unnecessary messages, but people take certain communications for granted. It is a basic courtesy to revert back to someone who conveyed to you a message, be it either a wish, requesting any information, or any kind of ask/help, etc.,

I personally did not acknowledge people sometimes and also experienced it from a few, which I later regretted being so. We generally do not tend to understand what others think when you act in a certain way unless you walk in their shoes.

Hence, acknowledgment is one important communication etiquette that every individual must possess, be it a working professional, or a student, or a business leader.

To any educational investment we make, the returns expected must match the worth we put in to pursue that course. Being a student of MBA, the calculation of Return on Investment (ROI) to the course would be an obvious phenomenon, like the course itself teaches us lessons in the same terms. At SoM NIT Warangal, the ROI is compatibly large than any other institution/B-Schools that offer a master’s course in business administration and note that the quality of education (as everyone knows) is to the core that involves exposure of students to numerous real-world business scenarios and training them as industry-ready individuals.

The School of Management has its presence in the arcade of NIT Warangal along with various UG, PG, and Ph.D. offering departments but holds its own unique functioning and reputation besides being a part of NITW.

A MATCH MADE IN HAVEN

“Wrong to take Ronaldo? Never,” Juventus president Agnelli told Italian newspaper La Repubblica. “I would do it again tomorrow.”

With this, The prodigal son returned with a clear intention to return to the principles that defined the Sir Alex Ferguson era. Manchester United pulled off a dream signing, welcoming Cristiano Ronaldo back, in the last few days of the crazy summer window.

Excitement over his return to the Premier League was massive – and with adequate reason. There is only a modicum of sports stars on the planet who can induce this kind of global involvement.
And what could be expected less from the GOAT, he scored 2 goals in his second-time debut for the red devils in the Premier League and 1 goal in his Champions League debut for them respectively sending the red fans in a trance. while being named the player of the month for the Premier League and Manchester United for the very first month of his return, And football pundits said he was too old for premium league and it was too fast for him.

He has signed a 2-year contract (with the possibility to extend) for a prior fee of £12.86 million and the potential for an additional £6.85 million in performance-related bonuses.
This is mainly down to his age. At 36, he is nearing the end of his career, and the fee reveals this, even though his enactment level remains high. The performance factor is revealed in his salary, which is established to be around £385,000 per week, so Manchester United will be spending around £60 million as the total cost.

But how does a player of Ronaldo’s professional greatness implicate the business perspective of a prominent football club? Where are the key monetary wins generated by sporting superstars?

THE NUMBER GAME

Shirt sales? Up. Social media followings? Up. Sponsorship deals? Up. Ronaldo, it is clear, was an assurance of more than just goals.
Ronaldo has already boosted United’s shirt sales to a record-breaking quantity, but it is Adidas that will see the preliminary benefit. That said, United’s current deal with Adidas is already football’s heftiest, and the Ronaldo effect should entitle the club’s administrators to push up the price when it comes to renewal.

The power of his brand (he is widely known as “CR7”) immediately magnifies the club’s global reach and appeal.
Ronaldo presently parades half a billion followers across social media, described with Manchester United’s 140 million and the acknowledgement of his signing blazed 12.5 million likes on Instagram. Converting this reach into cash is critical.
United’s widespread business operations should also see a significant boost. Sponsors will be plunging over themselves to partner with United, and it is possible the club could make an additional £30M in commercial arrangements in the next couple of years.

And while exact numbers are difficult to predict, we can look to Ronaldo’s last club, Juventus, for a guide. While he was in the squad, Juventus renegotiated deals with Adidas and Jeep and signed a new one with Konami in Japan who quoted the “RONALDO EFFECT” as a major justification behind the partnership.

Manchester United meanwhile already generate ample value from commercial deals and Ronaldo will help exacerbate those numbers. The team and the player have been described as a “match made in heaven,“, with the share price of the club jumping before Ronaldo had even kicked a ball back in Manchester.

Longer-term gains can be anticipated in the next couple of years, and if he helps the club to win trophies, the numbers could be mind-boggling.
Recent research found that 40% of respondents in seven countries (including England, Poland and Brazil) aged 16-24 had no interest in football, arousing fears of a “missing generation” of fans so, anything that broadens the reach to younger age factions is of tremendous interest to club owners, so Ronaldo’s social media presence is yet another box ticked.

In India for example,  nearly a third of fans say that allegiance to a player influences their support for a club.

For Manchester United, there is money to be made from the return of CR7. The club will gain new fans and new deals – and if he scores goals and wins matches, maybe even a new trophy.
The coming summer transfer window is already creating a sensation with big names like Mbappé who becomes a free agent and have every intention of joining Real Madrid and with Halland also likely to make his way to Spain, a treat for the La Liga fans.

PLANTATION DRIVE (Jan 9, 2022) – Social Outreach Team

“To be without trees would be, in the most literal way, is to be without our roots.” – Richard Mabey

God’s most beautiful creation is nature. It celebrates all its creatures’ growth, development, and nutrition. Given the numerous benefits of trees, such as their ability to release oxygen into the air, absorb unpleasant odors as well as harmful gases such as Carbon dioxide, Carbon monoxide, and Sulphur dioxide from the air and purify it, protect us from harmful ultra-violet rays, and play a critical role in preventing soil erosion, maintaining ecological balance, and, most importantly, reducing the effects of global warming. Considering the numerous advantages of trees, Social Outreach Team, School of Management, NIT Warangal has taken an initiative of “TREE PLANTATION DRIVE” on Sunday, 9 January 2021.

Such small measures made collectively by students would undoubtedly aid in the development of good mental and social health in today’s youngsters, allowing them to connect with their peers, elders, community, and environment.

Planting trees isn’t just something that should be done; it’s a requirement, a pressing need of the hour. Tree planting is particularly crucial for protecting our environment from air pollution and global warming. It’s past time for us to accept accountability for our actions. We must return to the earth and care for her in the same way that she has cared for us for so long. To restore the beauty and greenness of our planet, we must plant as many trees as possible.

“Plant a tree for a brighter tomorrow”
